What is herbalism and how can we apply it to our animals.
Well first off I would like to ask you what herbalism means to you? What do you think of?
The dictionary has a standard definition of what herbalism is but I feel strongly that each person needs to have a understanding for themselves. Herbalism is not only about utilizing plants for medicinal and therapeutic use, I feel it is also a connection back to nature and a more natural way of how our bodies and lives should operate. I feel strongly in this way of thinking and how my life should operate. As you can already imagine; I love my animals, all animals at that matter. If I uphold this value for myself you can imagine I uphold this value for my animals. With all that said let us dive into how Horses and Herbs will approach herbalism in the use for humans and animals.
First and foremost safety is the highest concern. Not all herbs can be used in the same way. Some can only be used externally; some can be externally and internally. Not all herbs that can be used on humans can be used on horses or dogs or cats. (Please note cats are very sensitive to herbs and essential oils, please be very careful.) Horses and Herbs will do our utmost best at portraying any safety concerns that are of need for knowing. Please feel free to do your own research outside of these articles.
“Let thy food by thy medicine, and thy medicine thy food”, Hippocrates. This very basic statement shall be the basis for all further approaches to herbalism here at H&H. If it does not benefit the body it wont be used. Plan and simple.
My goal with sharing herbalism is to show how simple it can be to nourish ours and our animals bodies the way they crave. You can expect information on herbs and essential oils that can help benefit your and your animal’s. I will show you how to make balms, tinctures, and teas to aid in therapeutic properties for common ailments. My goal will also to show you how to grow your own herbs so you can nourish your family and animals via your own backyard. I want you to feel like you have control over the health care of your family and animals.
I can not wait to have you with me on the herbalism journey we are about to embark on together! Life is a journey we are all on where we continue learn and grow and I am excited you are here with me! I am always open to questions and chats, please visit my Work with Me page to learn more about how you can do so.
