You are going to love this body butter!! I use it everyday! Like everyday! It is also a great lotion to use as a base for lots of your essential oil needs.
My favorite parts of this recipe is that it is so hydrating and very universal.
Combine all ingredients, except the essential oils, in a small pot or double boiler. (I place my glass measuring cup into my sauce pan that has some water in it).
Gently melt, mix and stir over medium-low heat till all ingredients are liquid and mixed together.
Remove from heat and allow the mixture to partially set up. (you will see it start to thicken and turn white; you can put it into the freezer to speed up the process)
Once set, add the 10-20 drops of essential oils.
At this point you have a choice: you can whip the mixture with a hand mixer till it looks whipped or you can simply stir in the oils as is. (I have done both and like both ways. It's really up to your preference.)
Once you are done whipping or stirring you simply add your mixture to a jar (this recipe makes about 7 ounces).
This recipe will make about 7 ounces. You can store in a Ball canning jar or any jar that will suit your needs.
I, of course, recommend a repurposed jar if you can.
The heating of the mixture will not take long; but the setting up of the mixture will take a little longer.
As far as essential oils to use in this recipe it is TOTALLY up to you! What are your needs, what do you like... and go with that! If you need any help deciding on what essential oils to use or where to get them you can learn more on where I get my oils or contact me.
